I hope you have a happy holiday! But I need that brain to stay in tact.Your assignment is in three parts and is an introduction to our next unit: Our Constitution. Let’s finish up the revolution and start the next unit. Once you’ve won a war to become your own independent nation, what comes next? You have to set up laws to make sure that the freedom you’ve fought for stays in tact. This winter packet will be due the FIRST day back from winter break and will count as a grade. Don’t start off Spring Semester with a zero. The Constitution of the United States is the most important document in this country's history, and definitely in the top ten of world history. This unit will go over:
Seriously; if you forget everything you learn in my class, remember this unit. If at any point you need more space, just write your answers on a separate sheet of paper and staple to this packet. This packet must be printed, stapled, and turned in on on the first day of class after winter break. Late packets will result in an automatic fail and can only be made up with passing formative grade within the month of January. ASSIGNMENT #1: End of the War for Independence It's HAMILTON time again! Read the background information about the song here and make sure you annotate using CATCH. After you read, answer the questions on the last page. Then: listen to the song here, read the lyrics here, and annotate them. You will be graded on your song annotations. You can watch the performance of the songs "History Has Its Eyes on You" and "Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Dow)" by the original Broadway cast below (feat. former President Obama and former First Lady Obama.) It's really good! ASSIGNMENT #2: Crash Course US History - Video and Questions Play the videos with captions. Pause and rewind when necessary. Answer the questions here using the videos.
